Our Rock

> Hey friends and family, i hope you all had a wonderful new year, and enjoyed time at home with the fam. > > This week has been learning experience, and a strengthening of my testimony. > > i hope you guys remember the rodriguez family, i wrote about them a couple of times before about carlina getting baptized and stefany their 5 year old daughter and fernando the father. > > thursday of last week i received a phone call from the sister of fernando, another member of the church named marta, and she informed me that carlina had dissapeared leaving only a note telling fernando she was sorry and that she loved him. thursday day and all that night was spent looking for carlina along side the police, and that morning we recieved a text that carlinas body had been found in a river next to a bridge off the highway and that she had commited suicide. > > This week has been extremely difficult, i truely loved that family. passing through so much darkness, ive asked myself this week, how can this happen, how can so much darkness and sadness be in this world. and what ive shared this week with so many people and have learned for myself, is that in this life, if we are not built on the rock of faith in Jesus Christ, the day will come that this world will over come us. and as ive thought about that, ive asked myselt ,what does that mean, to have faith in Jesus Christ, and how does that help us pass through these challenges. as i sat during the funeral and i watched them put the cascet in the grave i looked up at the sun and the flowers and remembered, that Jesus Christ already overcame the world, he suffered all the pain, darkness and sin that this world had, and overcame it, died on the cross, and rose three days later over coming death. we put faith in Christ because he is the only sure foundation, the only way to make it through so much sorrow and pain. that faith has carried me through this past week, and i watched it carry fernando through it all. > > keep the faith, stay the course. > > love, > elder myers > > >
