if my calculations are correct, you guys had a time change! WE DID TO. however we gained an hour of sleep. i needed it. we are officially going into autumn and its gorgeous. the leaves are turning yellow, the air is fresh, and it feels like football season to me everywhere i go. this week, was a normal week. the biggest event so far was yesterday. the hatchs, an elderly couple that are here serving as missionaries, are here in tbo. i lived next door to them for six months in paysandu they were visiting for the weekend. they took us out to dinner last night to a really really nice restaurant. it was really nice to see them again, and also really cool to go out to eat. it was the first and probably the only time during the mission that ill get to do that. so thought for the week, reading in matthew 8. A "scribe" talking to Jesus Christ offers Him his service by saying that he would follow Him wherever he would go. A scribe during new testament times was a part of the ruling class. and by offereing his service was offering Jesus a spot within the ranks of the Higher class citizens which would have meant an increase in social status as well as popularity and fame. however the answer Christ gave is very instructive." and Jusis saith unto him, the foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the son of man hath not where to lay his head." i was reading in a book called Jesus the Christ about what He was saying to the scribe. The reference is that he is describing to the scribe the requirment of any that make such a clame. Christ had no home, no resting place, He simply lived to fufill His duty, going wherever the Father called Him to go. He shows the scribe that more than choosing to be His follower, meant a commitment to life long service, and that Christ chose his disciples not for power or prestige, but rather a worthy heart and willing hands. lesson for us all. Its so easy to say we follow Christ, or to claim to be Christians in a convenient moment, but we must remember that more than the words, and the necklaces, is the internal commitment, in our hearts to leave any and all behind to follow the call and fufill our duties.
