Humility

Hello family and friends!! this week was absolutely fantastic. the highlight was the conference that we had with Elder jorge Zeballos from chile. so we had all the missionaries in the surrounding cities come to cerro for a multi zone conference, with one of the members of the area presidency. we had 130 missionaries here, a ton of which were old friends, and missionaries that i havent seen in a long time, and as well SOOOOOOOO many faces of people that i have no idea who they were. its crazy how much the mission changes so fast, i feel like i dont really know anyone anymore in the mission. the focus was on how to know if you are giving your all of holding back in the mission. or really in any service. The point, was that you can only know if you re giving your all by setting goals, and progressivly give more and more, and to go until you feel like you reach the point and them some. second highlight of the week was doing divisions with a old friend of mine named elder lamb. He was the first missionary i met in my entire mission. when i showed up at the air port in texas, he was already there waiting to go to argentina. so long yet so short ago. so serving in an impovershed zone of uruguay, i have had some incredible learning experiences, the people i am surrounded by, as well as the changes i see, has been so humbling. What i have learned most in my time here is that God is no respector of persons, He loves all of His children, and does not prefer one over the other because of social status, fame, or money. I have been mostly working with drub addicts, ex convicts, and ex prostitutes, and have never seen such humility, and faith. People who are willing to give up everything, and i mean everything, in order to make the necesarry changes in life to be baptized. Elizabet, was recently baptized, shes an ex drug addict, and she is awesome. we had a lesson last night with a friend of hers that she invited to listen to us. at a point in the lesson, we were taking about Gods love for us, and elizabet pulled up her sleeves, and showed what was a spiderweb of scars from years of slitting her wrists, and shared her testimony, that after 60 years of looking to the world to solve her problems, it was the gospel of Jesus Christ, that pulled her out of the hole, of drug abuse and multiple attempted suicides. She is a huge example of the change that can take place within someone, and how we can never judge ANYONE as a hopeless case. Well loved ones, until the next one. elder myers
